Attitude is everything Annette Sym, Australia’s most successful self-published low-fat cookbook author and leading weight loss and healthy lifestyle expert, inspires Australians to transform their lives by making healthy lifestyle choices. Attitude is everything especially when it comes to being a winner in life. When it comes to weight loss too many times you can feel anything but a winner so if you are feeling fed up and are ready to create the new healthier and slimmer you then let’s get started. Re-education is the first step to scrambling old thoughts; attitudes and habits that have held you back in the past. If you want to lose weight and have had little success in the past then you need to look for new ideas, new ways, and a new attitude that will help create the person you want to be. Now is the perfect time to do a spring-clean of your eating and health regime. If you are fed up and ready to do what is necessary to get you into your healthy weight range then now is the time to get ready to take charge of yourself and more importantly take responsibility for what you eat, how much you eat and to change any habits that aren’t working in your favour. You firstly have to understand that learning new habits does take time, and isn’t always easy but if you don’t change what you are doing then you won’t get the results you want. Remember when you where at school to learn any thing new you had to practice, practice, practice, well its no different now, the more you practise new habits the easier it becomes. To start you will need to take responsibility for your past actions and from now on make the right choices when it comes to your attitude and commitment to becoming a healthy person. It is time to forget all those lame excuses, reasons, and no, you can’t blame anyone else anymore. If you are overweight it is no ones fault but your own, I speak from having had a weight problem for so many years myself. Please don’t think I am being hard on you, I am just being honest, having myself battle obesity for so many years and eventually came out the winner. If you too have battled for years with your weight then rest assured I know exactly where you are coming from and if I can help in anyway to help you understand the importance of stepping up to changing those habits that have held you back in the past then fantastic! Today is a new beginning, so get started on your new belief system that puts you in control. Tips to weight loss success To have good health and wellbeing you must have an eating regime that has variety and balance, which includes all the food groups. Eating in moderate amounts is really important, as most overweight people have lost the concept of normal sizing. Also include exercise into your day. These tips are what I believe are the keys to weight loss success:- 1. Make your kitchen a healthy zone and throw out all junk food. What food should you have in the house that will keep you on track and committed to losing weight? Be your own best friend in all ways so love honour and protect yourself so that you can achieve the outcome you desire. 2. Learn how to cook your favourite recipes low fat and learn how to enjoy your food guilt free. It is important to make time to do this as you will get bored and give up if you don’t. My recipe books have loads of ideas that will help you feel satisfied and happy to continue for how ever long it takes for you to reach your goal weight. 3. Making changes like I have just suggested will help you to also keep your weight off long term. Maintaining can be quite a challenge especially if you haven’t taught yourself how to eat moderate amounts and if you haven’t learnt how to make healthy choices you may regain your weight, which is what happens to most people who go on the shakes and soup diets. 4. To become a healthy person is easy as long as you have the right attitude. All you have to do is mirror what healthy people do, copy them in every way and before you know it you will be one too. 5. Have a balanced diet where you eat quality proteins, choose the good carbohydrates to eat, make sure you have fibre in your diet and don’t go lower than 25g of fat in your day. 6. Get active. The best way is to start going for 30-45 minute walks 4-5 times a week or swim, dance, jog, aerobic workouts what ever it is that you will enjoy doing. Just as long as you get of the couch and get your heart rate pumping. This in turn will help you lose weight, tone your body and create a fit and healthy you. 7. And finally above all believe in yourself and don’t let anything stop you. If you never give up you will eventually get where you want to go.
